In the world of bloggers, I have found out one of the big concerns is how to drive traffic to your site.  I have that concern, too.

I use WordPress as my hosting service, which is noticeable with “WordPress.com” in my website link.  They offer these “free courses” to help you out with this issue.  So, I started one.  The first homework assignment was this – “Today’s task: write down three concrete goals for your blog.”

I had to set goals in Clinical Pastoral Education work, so I know they work.  They are good for you, and to quote the course, “defined goals will keep you focused as you work on your blog.”

One: To increase the number of posts I write.

I currently make about one to two posts per month.  I would like to make 2 to 3 posts for the month of February.  In 90 days, I would like to be averaging 4 to 6 posts per month.  I will do this by blocking out more time to write and research.

Two:  To increase the number of followers to my blog.

I currently have about 8 followers.  I am thankful for them all.  In 30 days, I would like to have 15 followers.  In 90 days, I would like to have 50 followers.  I will do this by working on developing more contacts and studying strategies to increase my followers.

Three: I would like to improve my marketing strategy (the admin side of things).

I work on this some, but I really don’t have a clue about what I am doing.  I will study ways to utilize Facebook, Pinterest, and LinkedIn to market my blog.  I will develop an email list for my blog.

I had thought once about pursuing a PhD.  I still might.  One thing that attracted me to that idea was being able to interact with other academic disciplines (like physics).  I had hoped to create something like that here.

I would love to have my blog be successful enough to support me financially to a certain percentage.  I really just like writing.  If it helps people some, then I am happy.

Please be sure to comment at the bottom of the post and let me know what you think of my goals.  I would love to hear from you.  Please be sure to press the like button, too.  You can follow my blog, too!  There should be a button on my page.  I would really appreciate it!

Please consider donating to my page.  Any amount will be appreciated.  It will help me offset my expenses on my blog.  Thanks again for reading.

  1. I understand what you are saying. Glad to have WordPress holding our hands in this journey. The fact that they offer free (blogging university) workshops is an added plus. Knowledgeable support system which makes it easy to suggest them to others. Like you, feeling my way through the maze to help others.
